In a future world ravaged by environmental disaster, humanity has sought refuge in a sprawling artificial space. While this digital haven offered temporary respite, it's now buckling under the weight of its own challenges – overpopulation, dwindling resources, energy crises, discrimination, poverty, war, and rampant illness.

A groundbreaking program emerges, promising to liberate individuals from their physical constraints by digitizing their existence, personalities, and memories, allowing them to reside permanently in a virtual utopia. But a catastrophic error corrupts the program, blurring the boundaries between the digital and real worlds. The ensuing instability opens a rift, spewing vast quantities of data into reality.

Within this data deluge, some fragments are tainted, containing glitches, damage, or insidious viruses. Contact with these tainted data transforms humans into nightmarish creatures known as "Bugs." Desperate attempts to close the rift fail, and the breach expands rapidly, threatening to consume everything.

As a last-ditch effort to save humanity, the program's creators develop a serum to grant immunity to the digital virus. To seal the rift, a courageous Player is tasked with forcefully severing connections at various terminals. Yet, in a shocking twist, the Player must ultimately confront the new host of the malware – a corrupted version of themselves – to safeguard both worlds.
